Biography

Dr. J.V.R. Prasad is a professor in the School of Aerospace Engineering, working in the area of flight mechanics and control. He is currently a co-principal investigator in the US Army sponsored Vertical Lift Rotorcraft Center of Excellence (VLRCOE) program and the General Electric Aircraft Engines University Strategic Alliance (GEAE-USA) program at Georgia Tech. He has extensive research and design experience in rotorcraft modeling and control, propulsion system modeling and control, atmospheric turbulence modeling, simulation, system identification, linear and nonlinear control theory applications, and neural networks and fuzzy logic control. Dr. Prasad published parts of four books, forty five refereed journal papers, one hundred and ninety conference papers, and seventy research project reports. He has five invention disclosures and four patents to his credit. He served as the chairman of the technical committee on handling qualities of the American Helicopter Society during 1994-96 and as a member of the AIAA Flight Mechanics Technical Committee during 1998-2001. He also served as the as the chairman of the technical committee on UAVs of the American Helicopter Society during 2007-09. He has been a member of the Editorial Board for the International Journal on Mathematical Modeling and Simulation and an Associate Editor of the Journal of the American Helicopter Society. He is an Associate Fellow of AIAA and a member of the AHS.
